Douglas Community Golf Course |
BIG WONDERFUL WYOMING GOLF
Day two of the trip began with another seven hour drive, this time from Salt Lake City across the state of Wyoming and the continental divide. The first 3 hours of the drive through the canyons of the Wasatch Mountains were filled with amazing views as the suns rose over the towing peaks.
After what seemed like an uphill drive across the entire state of Wyoming because of the Divide, I made it to Douglas, Wyoming. It's city just north of Cheyenne and south of Casper. That's where "ACE" and I had a chance to camp for the night at the Douglas Community Golf Course.
At only 6,250 yards this 18 hole gem isn't long, but built on a hillside and has its share of challenges, like walking it. If you like value, this track is worth the stop at just $30 for 18 holes and only $2 for a bucket of balls on the range!! One added bonus to the Douglas facility was it's clubhouse, complete with a great bar and restaurant, patio seating and a large second story deck overlooking the Wyoming plains. It was also open until midnight which was huge because it was a good place to finally relax and have a good dinner, and watch some Stanley Cup Playoff action as the Vegas Golden Knights were making another run in the Western Conference.

After a Vegas win over the Chicago Blackhawks, it was off to bed for another early wake up and another 7 hour drive though the Black Hills of South Dakota, and a stop at Mitchell, the home of the Worlds Only Corn Palace!
Next Stop: Mitchell, South Dakota
